Steam launches special cheaper games pricing system || Steam Update

Steam put its new regional pricing system to use in SAR (South Asian Region) in select countries in Asia, and will keep reducing until every game gets reduced to a fair prices for these countries as,in countries like Sri Lanka, people would not want to afford a game much costlier than their accommodation fees. But there's a catch.

Most games are now discounted and we see a change in payments methods to increase game sales rather than not having any game sales in these regions.

Countries like Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh will be included in this regional price reduction.

Prices will be solely based on the developer's decision and not steam, more games will be updated soon and soon all games will be updated to South Asian Regional Pricing.

"As you'd expect, Steam restricts sales at the reduced pricing to consumers located in SAR. It's also not possible to buy a game from within SAR and gift it to someone in another region. You'd certainly see some gifting for cash businesses setting up quickly if they allowed that to happen!
While there may be a few grumbles about the reduced pricing, publishers and developers should be happy to have a new region of potential game buyers open up to them. Selling to that region at prices they can afford is better than not being able to sell to them at all." States PCGamer.
